Aussie Mangow 2023. 9. 11. 22:32

PTE Each 50+ must be one of the common score for many people to achieve. However, there are tons of tips and hacks for reaching this goal so a lot of people get confused how to study PTE, particularly achieve Each 50+. In this post, I would like to share how I had studied PTE in order to achieve PTE Each 50+. Let's get into it.

To get the score in short term, PTE is the BEST.

Once you decide to choose PTE in order to achieve Each 50+, you do not think to improve general English. I am pretty sure the reason why you prepare PTE Each 50+ is that you are in hurry for getting score such as applying for new visa or meeting minimum language requirement for institutes. So, I highly recommend you to just focus on reaching your goal. Do not try to grab everything at the same time. PTE is tested by AI, not the real person. So if you target only certain subjects you can definitely achieve Each 50+. You do not need to focus on all subjects of PTE.

Key subjects for Each 50+

As you know, there are lots of subjects of PTE test. It is important to know which subject should be studied. Mainly, there are 3 main subjects, technically 4 but Speaking and writing are recognised 1. You can simply study the subjects which are highligted in red.

7. Highlight Incorrect Words: While listening to a paragraph given, click the word that AI read differently.

8. Write from Dictation

I highlighted 8 subjects in red. These are more than enough to get Each 50+. I had paid not only $75 per hour for the private tutoring but also read a lot of review how to study PTE. As a result, they had common main subjects which are above in red. At least you know the key subjects, so you already save time. To find more tips and hacks you can search more information on YouTube with the name of these subjects.

Speaking & Writing

1. Read Aloud: Reading naturally and frequently a paragraph composed 4 or 5 sentences

Honestly, Read Aloud which is part is one of the most important subjects has no tips and hacks. In my case, I did pretty good reading one day, but was horrible another day. The thing is it is very normal, so do not get stress so much. Just keep it up consistantly, having a deep breath and read again. However, you might wonder if you are doing in correct way. Every person has different speaking ability, especially has typical accent, stress and pronunciation from mother tongue. Even if you read frequently with your own way, it might be wrong because PTE is marked by AI. This means you should read correctly so that AI is able to understand what you say. If failed, it is tough to get the ideal score.

I have a good solution to prevent this situation. Go to the note app and run dictation function in English. Read the paragragh below in 26 seconds. You can see typing what you say on the note app.

Gone are the days of communicating through the long and tiring postal process, which usually took a few days to reach the destination. This is a high-tech world where communication is possible by just clicking the button. Modern means of communications such as computer, laptops, and smartphones have brought about a drastic change in the way of communication. In fact, the discussion has become much more straightforward and quicker.

How much is it accurate? If it is over 80% accurracy, you are already good at Read Aloud, so just keep going regularly. Comparing with a variety of previous exam questions, you can practice the words which have difficult pronunciation so that you are confident to read aloud when facing those. Even if you have less 80% accuracy, do not be fraustrated. Practice reading with the PTE materials you upload regularly in this blog. Nevertheless, if you feel it is still tough, I highly recommend to hire a private tutor not to waste time and effort with inappropriate way. I had hired twice, which were $70 per hour and $35 per hour. When I look back, it was worth for money. At least, I found what my weakness was and how to fix. I know it is not that cheap. However, studying PTE should not be marathon but it is the 100m dash. It should be finished as quickly as possible.

2. Describe Image:  Explaining verbally a image given

3. Re-tell Lecture: Explaining verbally a lecture hearing

The subjects DI and RL are subjects that can be conquered using templates, so you can score near perfect. For these two subjects, rather than me explaining, I recommend the YouTube channel 'PTE Jimmyssem' which was very helpful for my studies. There is a lot of information on how to use templates and how to study in the YouTube videos, so please take a look.

4. Essay: Writing an essay with a topic given

I made an effort to write the essay template perfectly within 7 minutes and 40 seconds. The content of the template is excellent. However, this template is mainly focused on discussing the advantages and disadvantages of the topic, so it may not be very suitable for questions that occasionally ask for opinions. But if you aim for a score of 65 or higher, it's okay no matter what topic comes up. The problem is that spelling errors and grammar errors (tense, singular/plural, etc.) lead to deductions immediately. So, if you can at least write the template 100% accurately exactly as it is, you won't incur direct deductions. I'll share the template I've been using. Just insert a noun or gerund that corresponds to the topic into the part marked as OOO, and you can write your answer. By the way, the template is written in British English. In fact, whether it's British or American English doesn't impact your score on the PTE, but since I'm living in Australia, I'm making an effort to use British spelling if possible.

Template

The controversial topic with respect to OOO never fails to attract public attention. There has been a heated debate on whether OOO is providing benefits to our society. In my essay, I shall elaborate on my point of view by analysing both sides of the argument before deducing a proper conclusion.

First of all, it is evidently reasonable for me to believe that OOO provides a number of merits. The first point in regard to this is that OOO has contributed to the advancement of the subject such as culture and a human lifestyle in many ways. OOO would be a convincing example. As a result, OOO is beneficial for both old and new generations across the world.

In contrast, it is commonly believed as a fact that OOO can actually have a negative impact on OOO. Nevertheless, this argument does not hold water. It should be pointed out that there are various concerns such as OOO and those can be significant factors to be considered.

In a nutshell, due to the mentioned reasons, we may safely reach the conclusion that positive effects of OOO far outweigh the harms. Therefore, I strongly recommend keeping this trend for the future as societies can take careful steps to mitigate potential problems.

Reading

1. Fill in the Blanks

This subject is divided into two types: one is Reading & Writing (the first image), and the other is Reading (the second image). Reading & Writing involves selecting the appropriate word from the provided four options for each blank, as shown in the first image. On the other hand, Reading, as shown in the second image, involves dragging and dropping the correct word from the list below. When comparing the difficulty of these two subjects, Reading is easier because you can often anticipate the correct answer by looking at the context before and after the blank, which increases the likelihood of choosing the right part of speech and form.

Example Reading & Writing: Fill in the Blanks
Reading & Writing: Fill in the Blanks
Example Reading Fill in the Blanks
Reading: Fill in the Blanks

When I studied Fill in the Blanks, I focussed exclusively on practice questions from past exams. Typically, there are around 300 to 400 practice questions available. When solving each question, I made an effort to read and interpret every word as thoroughly as possible. If I encountered unfamiliar words, I immediately looked them up in a British-English dictionary. If I still couldn't understand the meaning, I would search for the whole sentence or use an online translation tool like Google Translate to figure out the context. Through this process, I was able to learn and master vocabulary, including phrases like "to one extent or another." When encountering questions like "to one extent or [       ], " there was no need to interpret further; I would simply choose "another." In actual PTE exams, questions of this nature did appear from time to time.

I organised unknown words and vocabulary in an Excel sheet, categorising them by days (Day 1, 2, 3, etc.), and I repeatedly memorised them each day to enhance my vocabulary skills. If you aim for a score of 50 or higher, you should aim to answer at least 50% of the questions correctly to achieve your desired score.

Listening

1. Summarize Spoken Text

For this subject, you can also use templates, similar to Describe Image and Re-tell Lecture. Try to write down at least 8 words or more of the spoken content, and follow the template. This is the easiest and most straightforward approach. However, if you are confident in your listening and writing skills and can accurately spell the heard vocabulary, you can try the following method I learned from the YouTube channel "Moni PTE MAGIC."

In summary, this method involves recording not only individual words but also all essential content, including sentences. After the lecture, you add conjunctions, various adverbs, and so on to string together sentences. By using this method, you can aim for a higher score.

2. Highlight Incorrect Words: While listening to a paragraph given, click the word that AI read differently.

Example Highlight Incorrect Words

Sentences are provided as shown above, and a speaker will read them aloud. At that time, about 6 to 7 words are spoken differently, and you should click on those parts. When you click, it will be highlighted with a box, as shown in the picture above. However, you should only click when you are 100% confident. Clicking on a wrong word can actually result in a deduction of 1 point. For example, if you get 4 correct and 3 wrong, you will only receive a total of 1 point. So, it's recommended not to check words that you are unsure about. Please follow the flow of the speaker's reading without any hesitation. This subject requires a high level of concentration.

3. Write from dictation

This is one of the most important subjects in the PTE exam, greatly impacting your listening and writing scores. To be honest, I approached this subject in the most straightforward and brute-force manner. In the actual exam, you are given a total of 3 to 5 sentences. There are commonly known sets of practice questions or previous exam questions provided weekly by the Chinese PTE institute called FireFly, usually totaling around 220 sentences. I memorized all 220 sentences perfectly and used them for every test. The most challenging part of my PTE preparation, spanning about 3 months, was the daily and consistent memorization and review process. The practice questions provided by FireFly are updated every week. Over the course of taking the official PTE exam seven times, I occasionally made minor word changes, but since the correct answers were present in the practice questions, achieving a perfect score in the most critical subject was challenging but incredibly motivating. Moving forward, I will upload weekly updates of PTE practice questions and previous exam questions to my blog. Please visit the link to access the latest PTE materials.

I don't believe I can definitively say that PTE is easier than IELTS. However, based on my experience, I found that IELTS preparation can be somewhat overwhelming and confusing in terms of where to start and how broad it can be. On the other hand, with PTE, if you have well-developed strategies tailored to specific sections, it can certainly be an advantageous test for achieving your desired score. I hope this information is helpful to those aiming for Each 50+ in PTE, especially for those who are new to PTE or feeling overwhelmed before starting their serious study.
